How this phenomenon works:

It is essential for the visitor to know the whole operation of
the tidal phenomenon, in order to realize the submission of
the Evripos sea to the structure and the rules of the universe.

The flowing of the current depends entirely on the moon and
it has got direct relation to the duration of every lunar month.

The normal flowing of the current toward one direction, lasts
(6) six hours. After that, there is a period of approximately (8)
eight minutes when the sea waters stay stagnant.

After this eight minutes’ stagnant the sea waters change, and move in the opposite direction
again for six (6) hours.

This endless proceeding has no beginning or ending. It is an expression of the universe unknown
to us, mortals. It is a function that causes the famous flood-tide and ebb-tide of Evripos,
awakening the visitors imagination.

After every change and during this 6 hours flowing, the sea
waters gain speed that reaches 8 to 9 miles per hour.

But as we know, every rule has one lunar month there are
two periods of «disorder» when the currents do not have
regular flowing.  In this case they do not submit to any laws
of nature and of course there is no 6 hours change of their
direction.

These periods of «disorder» happen two times in a lunar month and last of a period of three
days each time.

During these periods, it is possible for the sea waters either to change direction up to 14 times in
14 hours’ time or not to happen any change for a whole day.

The first period contains the 7th, 8th and 9th lunar day and the second period contains the 21st,
22nd and 23rd lunar day.

In the first period the currents become «untidy» when the moon is in its 6th to 7th day and they
regain their 6 hours normal alternating flowing, when the
moon is in its 9th to 10th day.

In the second period the currents become «untidy» during
the 20th and 21st lunar day and then regain their norma
flowing in the 23rd and 24th lunar day. Every period of
disorder begins in the 00.01 minute of the 1st day and
ends in the 24th winter time of the last day.

But what makes this tidal phenomenon of Chalkida unique worldwide is the fact that in the 24th
(winter) time of the third and last of every period of instability (9th and 23rd lunar day), the sea
water stars to flow always from the North to the South gulf of Evoikos.

The specific point of time (24.00 hours) it is the most important if someone wants to estimate in a
certain time in the future or the past the direction of the currents.

Another very important pointing, which makes the second global uniqueness for this tidal
phenomenon of Evripos and at the same time shows the perfection of the laws of nature,

is the fact that during the period of equinox (21st March and 22nd September) the currents
change immediately direction without stopping their flow for almost eight minutes, like all the other
days of the year and they have the greatest intensity.
